Oliver Courier typewriter, made in England (1955), fully functional with new ribbon

A well made, solid mid century English made Oliver Courier typewriter.

This machine can be dated by it’s serial number to 1955, when typewriters were typically sturdy, metal shelled and well made. With a dark green textured finish, sometimes known as ‘war finish’, this look was typical of a lot of European typewriters of the 1940s and 50s.

With a clear typeface, this quality mid-century typewriter has been oiled on its moving parts, all the type bars and keys cleaned, dusted and fitted with a brand new black and red ribbon for maximum clarity. These can be purchased online, feel free to contact me for guidance for future purposes (ribbons last a few years with light use).

The typewriter also retains its original, unusual, snakeskin style wooden carry case in great condition.

Features include single or multiple line spacing (lever on left of carriage), a plethora of special characters including ! which earlier models don’t all have, margin release, and a folding, compact carriage return lever.

There are signs of wear from normal use to the shell, visible in photos.

It is a serious option for the typewriter user, collector or fan of fantastic mid century vintage decor and writing.

The body measures 28cm X 28cm X 9cm.

Ships internationally, for free within the UK.
