Lemaire Paris late 19th century antique brass binoculars

A beautiful pair of antique French 19th century brass binoculars made by the famous Lemaire fabt, Paris.

“Armand Lemaire died in 1885 and his son in law Jean Baptiste Baille took over the running of the firm now called the Baille Lemaire group.” – Collectors Weekly. I have taken from this that these binoculars date from before 1885 when the company name changed.

Made of brass and showing patina and character throughout, these binoculars clearly have a long and rich history.

Although they are a little cloudy if you were looking for sharp precision binoculars, these show an image well magnified and clear enough for casual use, and will look the part on a shelf or table perhaps by a window from where birds or boats can be seen…

They measure 14-17cm long X 12cm wide X 5.5cm diameter at the widest point.
