c.1930s Corinthian Bagatelle – early pinball game
A fine c.1930s large, tabletop example of the traditional English Bagatelle game.
A forerunner of pinball, you can see where that arcade game got its name, with simply produced cups and bumpers for the ball to land in it be redirected by, made from an array of pins. Amongst them sit holes alongside a stamped number of points.
One of the originating makers of the boards, the Corinthian boards as the box proudly states, were supplied to ‘H.M. The King, H.R.H. Prince of Wales and many members of the Royal Family’. A metal badge to the front internal edge states that this model is a Corinthian 10 and endorsed by Walter Lindrum, a very successful billiards player of the 1920s and 30s.
The dark wood has a lovely figuration to it, and it is in excellent vintage condition.
An early iteration of the game, this large board uses the traditional push-stick method to run the ball up the channel and away into the area of play.
The game comes with 6 large original steel balls and a stick.
The board is raised at the top by the wooden bar beneath, so the balls run down into the area of play.
Great bit of family fun for young and old.
