Antique French ceramic oil lamp converted to electric, newly rewired and PAT tested
A beautiful antique French ceramic oil lamp converted into an electric lamp.
A tall and elegant lamp with ornate bronze base and galleried capital, with the features of the original oil lamp still in situ.
The ceramic body is adorned in birds and floral motifs.
Based on the style of the wiring that was present at the point of sourcing this lamp which came out of a clearance of a large property in France, close to the Belgian border, it was converted to electric perhaps in the 1950s.
There lamp has had a complete rewire, with new burgundy braided 3 core flex and new plug and fuse. The switch is a quite fantastic Art Deco piece with all the geometric shapes typical of the style. The lamp has been PAT tested and bears its label to the plug.
There is a crack to the top neck of the ceramic body, but it is completely stacked and there is no movement there.
The lamp shades shown in pictures are *not* included and are present to give the idea of how a shade sits on the lamp.
The lamp measures 45cm tall X 13.5cm in diameter. The cable is a generous 230cm long.
